The port town Vis on the same named island Vis is located in the northeast with a population of 1932 people. The estates of the place are going back until the ancient world that is where many cultures displaced one another over the time. Today’s town of Vis is picturesque and attracts an increasing number of tourist in its spell. The beaches Rogacic, Mala, Svinja, Paraja and Vela, which lie close to the city, are contributing to that as well. Meanwhile, many hotels and private apartments offer excellent accommodation for tourist.

The crystal clear sea and the untouched nature as well as the view over the sea look very inviting. The food that is served is mainly the traditionally prepared seafood and fish that can be eaten safely, because it is the cleanest area in the Adriatic region. Vis was opened to tourism only in 1989. You were not able to think about vacation before, as it was served as a military base.
